Steve Leask Memorial Technology Fund

Dear NMSU Community,

Our friend and colleague, Dr. Steve Leask, is gone but not forgotten, and he will be missed. Steve was an incredible advocate for the use of technology in education and was respected by all who knew him. Steve was a member of the Tsimshian tribe. He served as a helicopter pilot in Korea, Vietnam, and Alaska as Chief Warrant Officer. He was awarded the Air Medal and Vietnam Service Medal. He earned his MBA and Doctorate in Educational Leadership from NMSU. Almost 20 years ago, in 1997, Steve started working at NMSU. Steve leaves behind, his wife, Libby, their three children, nine grandchildren and many other family, friends, and colleagues.

The Steve Leask Memorial Technology Fund is being set up to benefit NMSU Native American and/or military veteran students.

You can mail your donation to P.O. Box 3590, Las Cruces, NM 88003 and make it payable to: “NMSU Foundation, Inc.” Please note that the donation is for The Steve Leask Memorial Technology Fund.

You can also give online at and by selecting “Other” and writing in The Steve Leask Memorial Technology Fund.

Please contact if you have any questions.

Of note, a brick paver honoring Steve will be placed at the Las Cruces Veteran’s Walk of Honor at Veteran’s Memorial Park on Roadrunner Parkway.

With Respect,
The Faculty Advisory Committee (FACT)
