Today FACT had some great conversations!
First, thank you to Piyasat and Matt Henderson for sharing the current status of virtual desktopping! If you are teaching a class this summer wherein you are using specialized software, volunteers are needed to pilot test this; please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Canvas was another topic. Important topics includes:
- Summer 2016 Canvas courses will be available this Sunday, May 1. The new interface will be pushed on May 20; learn more about the new user interface in this video. New feature in Canvas is that Announcements via Canvas can be made by campus and by college.
- In Canvas, your courses are kept for 2 years and 1 week. This is a great time to check your Canvas courses and for any courses that are reaching expiration, go to your course Settings > select Export Course Content > Create Export.
A couple of additional technology notes:
Microsoft has released a new browser, Edge. This is not recommended for use with Canvas. Recommended browsers for Canvas are Firefox and Chrome.
Keep an eye out for emails about Panopto and Clutter. If you are a Panopto stakeholder, there is a need to start archiving or deleting old/unused recordings. ICT is investigating making the Clutter feature in NMSU Mail an opt-in feature.
Elections occurred; Richard Oliver will serve as chair and Igor Dolgov will serve as Vice Chair for 2016/2017.
Have a great summer NMSU!
